This is a magnificent, fully mature museum-vintage Grand Vin from Château Léoville Las Cases. As Saint-Julien’s benchmark "Super Second," Las Cases is widely celebrated for producing wines with the depth, density, and immense structural longevity that directly rivals the First Growths. This exceptional cellaring potential is rooted in their historic Grand Clos vineyard—a stone-walled plot positioned immediately adjacent to Château Latour, benefiting from the same gravel soils and the temperature-moderating influence of the Gironde estuary.

The 1983 vintage is a classic, highly sophisticated Left Bank expression that has evolved beautifully over more than four decades in the bottle. Now at an exquisite stage of peak maturity, it greets the nose with a wonderfully complex, tertiary bouquet of dried blackcurrants, stewed plums, and exotic cedar wood, shifting into deep layers of cigar box, old leather, iron ore, and forest floor. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and seamlessly integrated, showcasing a silk-like texture where the powerful tannins of its youth have completely softened and resolved. Balanced by a fine line of acidity, it finishes incredibly long, dry, and savory, with lingering notes of truffle and dried tobacco leaf.
