This is a fully mature Second Growth benchmark from Saint-Estèphe: the prestigious Château Cos d'Estournel 1993. Sourced from the gravelly heights of Saint-Estèphe overlooking Pauillac, Cos d'Estournel is celebrated worldwide as a quintessential "Super Second," famed for its exotic spice aromatics, rich fruit concentration, and commanding structural presence. The 1993 vintage stands as a testament to rigorous selection and technical winemaking mastery, yielding a refined, classicist expression that has evolved after over three decades in the cellar into a glorious window of tertiary drinking maturity. The nose opens with an inviting bouquet of dried cassis, dark plum preserves, and black cherries, seamlessly layered with hallmark Cos notes of exotic Asian spices, incense, sweet tobacco leaf, cedarwood, pencil lead graphite, and crushed gravel minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, supple, and beautifully balanced, where the estate's traditionally firm tannins have softened into fine velvet, enlivened by a fresh spine of natural acidity that carries into a long, dry, and savory mineral finish.
