This is a fully mature, museum-vintage First Growth (Premier Grand Cru Classé) from the illustrious Château Lafite Rothschild in Pauillac. Highly prized by fine wine brokers and private collectors for its trademark restraint, harmony, and elegant structure, Lafite Rothschild remains the quintessential expression of sophisticated Left Bank Bordeaux.
The 1994 vintage was characterized by a demanding growing season that favored the finest terroirs with exceptional drainage. Thanks to Lafite’s deep gravel plateaus, the estate produced an outstanding, classicist's wine that has outpaced many of its peers from the same year. Having spent over three decades evolving gracefully in the bottle, the wine has shed all youthful austerity to reveal a complex, highly intellectual tertiary bouquet. It opens with aromas of dried blackcurrants, mulberry, and cedar wood, deeply layered with signature notes of lead pencil shavings, cigar box, old leather, and a hint of truffle-tinged forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully knit, displaying a silk-like texture where the powerful tannins are completely resolved and velvety. Balanced by a fine, fresh line of acidity, it finishes long, bone-dry, and intensely savory.

Perfect for (food pairing): Fine roasted rack of lamb with an earthy herb crust, slow-braised beef cheeks or venison stew, grilled prime ribeye, or slow-roasted duck breast with a wild mushroom reduction. Its complex, aged bouquet also pairs beautifully with classic roasted game birds (such as pheasant or wood-pigeon), dishes featuring fresh black truffles, or a plate of well-aged hard cheeses like mature Comté or Gouda.
