Located in the Saint-Julien appellation, Léoville Las Cases is officially a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru) from the 1855 Classification. However, it is the quintessential "Super Second"—widely regarded as a First Growth in all but name—due to its consistently exceptional quality, rigorous selection process, and its unique terroir adjacent to Château Latour.
Now over 30 years old, this bottle has reached a magnificent stage of maturity. The famous "Grand Enclos" vineyard, which provides the fruit for this Grand Vin, typically yields wines of incredible density and graphite-like mineral precision. The 1994 expression has shed its youthful austerity to reveal a sophisticated, savory complexity that defines the peak of aged Saint-Julien.
The Highlights
