Description
The 1998 vintage in the Médoc is often characterized as a "classic" year. While the Right Bank (Saint-Émilion and Pomerol) stole the headlines that year, Latour produced a wine of immense dignity and "aristocratic" restraint. In 1998, the blend included a higher-than-usual percentage of Merlot (23%), which has helped this wine remain surprisingly approachable and "fleshy" compared to more austere vintages.
