this is a fully mature, classic museum-release bottle of Penfolds St Henri Shiraz. First created commercially in 1957, St Henri occupies a unique, highly revered stature among Australian icon wines. It was intentionally developed as an artistic counterpoint to Penfolds Grange—relying entirely on fruit purity, structure, and minimal intervention rather than the heavy influence of new oak. It is matured exclusively in large, seasoned 1,460-litre oak vats, ensuring no vanilla or wood flavors interfere with the natural varietal character.
The 2003 growing season in southern Australia was characteristically warm and dry, which yielded grapes of excellent concentration. Unusually for St Henri (which occasionally incorporates a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon for structural support), the 2003 vintage was crafted from 100% pure Shiraz sourced from elite parcels across premium regions including the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale, and Langhorne Creek.
