This is an exceptional, fully mature village-level red Burgundy from one of the most highly collected and revered producers in the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Fourrier. Under the visionary stewardship of Jean-Marie Fourrier, the estate has attained cult status for its low-intervention, purity-driven approach. Fourrier famously utilizes very little new oak (typically under 20%) and avoids pumping or heavy filtering, preserving the natural CO2 to protect the wine. This Vieille Vigne (old vine) bottling is crafted from ancient, deeply rooted vines that yield small, highly concentrated grapes, allowing the wine to punch well above a standard village classification.

Highlights

  • Vintage: 2004

  • Region/Appellation: Chambolle-Musigny, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

  • Producer: Domaine Fourrier

  • Grape: 100% Pinot Noir

  • Style: Fully Mature, Silky, and Ethereally Aromatic Old-Vine Red Burgundy

  • Perfect for (food pairing): Fine roasted duck breast with a light red berry or pomegranate reduction, slow-braised pheasant or squab, pan-seared quail, or classic beef carpaccio. Its fully mature, savory complexity and bright acidity also make it a spectacular match for dishes featuring pan-seared wild mushrooms, truffled pasta, roasted veal chops, or a plate of soft, artisanal cheeses such as a mature Delice de Bourgogne or semi-hard Comté.
