This is a highly prestigious, collectible Grand Cru Burgundy from Morey-Saint-Denis’ benchmark producer, Domaine Ponsot. Holding the largest share of the Clos de la Roche vineyard, Ponsot is legendary for its traditional, low-intervention approach. The house style relies entirely on ancient vines (averaging over 60 years old), completely avoids the use of new oak, and eschews fining or filtration to capture the raw, powerful essence of the terroir.

The 2006 vintage has evolved beautifully into its secondary drinking window. It opens with an expressive, deeply savory, and rustic bouquet of wild dark cherries, black raspberries, and liquorice, intricately layered with notes of forest floor, white pepper, dried herbs, and game. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, showing exceptional density and flesh. Its powerful Grand Cru structure is balanced by a vibrant thread of acidity and velvety, well-integrated tannins that carry into a long, expansively complex, mineral-tinged finish.
