While Château Cos d’Estournel is world-renowned as a "Super Second" Growth for its powerful red wines from Saint-Estèphe, its white wine is a rare and highly sophisticated gem. Produced in very limited quantities, it is widely considered one of the finest white wines produced in the Médoc.

The 2010 Cos d’Estournel Blanc is a masterclass in balance. It eschews the heavy, tropical style for something far more architectural and mineral. Now with over 15 years of age, the wine has reached a magnificent plateau of maturity, where the zesty citrus of its youth has evolved into a complex, waxier texture with sophisticated secondary notes.

The Highlights

  • Vintage: 2010

  • Region/Appellation: AOC Bordeaux Blanc (Grown in the Northern Médoc), France

  • Producer: Château Cos d’Estournel

  • Grape: A blend of Sauvignon Blanc (approx. 66%) and Sémillon (approx. 34%).

  • Style: Fully mature, crisp, and intellectually complex dry White Wine.

  • Tasting Profile: A refined bouquet of lemon curd, white peach, and grapefruit, layered with sophisticated secondary notes of beeswax, crushed stones, and a hint of toasted brioche. The palate is medium-bodied with a remarkable "steely" acidity and a long, saline, mineral-driven finish.

  • Perfect for (Food Pairing): * Premium Seafood: Grilled langoustines with herb butter, pan-seared scallops, or sea bass en croûte.

    • Poultry: Roasted chicken with a creamy tarragon sauce or veal saltimbocca.

    • Sophisticated Starters: Asparagus with hollandaise sauce or a fresh goat cheese and garden herb tart.

    • Cheese: Mature, nutty cheeses like Comté or a high-quality, aged goat cheese.
