this is an ultra-rare jewel from the smallest of Burgundy’s white Grand Crus and one of the Côte de Beaune's undisputed masters of Chardonnay: the Domaine Henri Boillot Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2010. Situated entirely within Chassagne-Montrachet on a gently sloping, limestone-rich south-facing plot, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet is renowned for combining lavish aristocratic richness with unmatched floral delicacy. Vinified by Henri Boillot using signature oversized 350-liter oak barrels to preserve tension and minimize wood impact, this 2010 release hails from a legendary, benchmark vintage defined by crystalline acidity and staggering dry-extract power. The nose unfurls with an intoxicating, multi-layered perfume of ripe yellow orchard fruits, white peach, candied Meyer lemon, and white acacia flowers, seamlessly layered with struck match reduction, crushed limestone minerality, toasted hazelnuts, beeswax, and subtle baking spices. On the palate, it is lavishly dense, velvety, and multidimensional, wrapping its opulent fruit around an electric, chiseled spine of cool limestone acidity that reverberates into an endlessly long, saline, and aristocratic finish.
