This is a benchmark, single-vineyard Cru expression from one of Piedmont’s most historic and revered estates: the Vietti Barolo Lazzarito 2013. Crafted from low-yielding old vines in the south-west-facing natural amphitheater of the Lazzarito MGA in Serralunga d'Alba, this cuvée exemplifies the sheer power, stern architecture, and limestone-clay depth that define this hallowed commune. The classic, late-ripening 2013 vintage is hailed across the Langhe as a modern masterpiece of balance and longevity, having now evolved past its initial austerity into a gorgeous, multifaceted drinking window. The nose opens with an intense, aristocratic bouquet of dark red cherries, dried damson plums, and wild raspberries, interwoven with crushed dried roses, tar, leather, wild mint, iron-rich earth, and black licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, muscular, and exceptionally deep, featuring Serralunga's trademark tightly woven, noble tannins framed by a vibrant spine of natural acidity that sails into an endlessly long, balsamic, and mineral-driven finish.

Highlights

  • Vintage: 2013

  • Region/Appellation: Barolo DOCG (Lazzarito MGA, Serralunga d'Alba), Piedmont, Italy

  • Producer: Vietti

  • Grape: 100% Nebbiolo

  • Style: Powerful, Structured, Aristocratic, Muscular, and Cellar-Worthy Cru Barolo

  • Perfect for (food pairing): Slow-braised beef short ribs or beef shank in Barolo (Brasato al Barolo), rich osso buco with saffron risotto, prime dry-aged bistecca alla Fiorentina, or pan-seared venison loin with a juniper berry glaze. Its formidable tannic structure, high-toned acidity, and earthy complexity also make it an extraordinary companion for tajarin pasta with freshly shaved white truffles, wild boar ragù over pappardelle, or mature hard cheeses like Castelmagno, Parmigiano-Reggiano, or aged Pecorino.
