This is an ultra-rare, mythical unicorn bottle from one of the most revered and uncompromising cult icons in Burgundy: the Domaine Bizot Vosne-Romanée "Les Jachées" 2018. Crafted by vigneron-philosopher Jean-Yves Bizot, who adheres strictly to whole-cluster vinification, zero added sulfur during winemaking, and aging in brand-new oak barrels without racking, this cuvée comes from old vines planted just east of the village. The warm, concentrated 2018 vintage gives this wine tremendous aromatic power and sensual volume while preserving Bizot's signature ethereal tension and purity. The bouquet explodes with a heady, multifaceted perfume of crushed dark raspberries, wild strawberries, and Morello cherries, layered with exotic Asian spices, whole-cluster stem spice, dried rose petals, violets, smoked tea, and forest floor sous-bois. On the palate, it is lavishly textured, seamless, and weightless yet profoundly deep, delivering a sapid core of red fruit framed by ultra-silky, fine-grained tannins and a vibrant streak of saline acidity that carries through an endlessly long, fragrant, and hauntingly complex finish.
