this is an ultra-alluring, elusive cult white from the masterful hands of Emmanuel Reynaud (the legendary vigneron behind Château Rayas): the Domaine des Tours Grenache Blanc "Réservé" IGP Vaucluse 2022. Cultivated on the sun-kissed, sandy-clay soils of Sarrians just outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this 100% Grenache Blanc undergoes Reynaud’s trademark slow, non-interventionist winemaking and patient aging in neutral oak vessels to capture both sheer decadence and vibrant terroir definition. The youthful 2022 vintage leaps from the glass with Reynaud’s unmistakable aromatic fireworks, delivering an intoxicating bouquet of white peach, bruised yellow pear, and fresh apricot compote, laced with honeysuckle, crushed anise, bitter orange peel, wild fennel, and a distinct chalky mineral undertone. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied and delightfully viscous yet buoyant, balancing its textural richness and glyceric weight with an electric, saline freshness and a delicate almond-skin bitterness that extends into a lingering, savory, and perfumed finish.
