This is one of the most ingenious, collectible cult cuvées in modern Australian winemaking history: the R Wines "Anamorphosis" Shiraz. Born from the partnership between legendary Barossa winemaker Chris Ringland and visionary importer Dan Philips, this cuvée represents the pinnacle of old-vine Northern Barossa Shiraz aged in premier French oak barrels. Beyond its profound liquid credentials, it is world-renowned for its award-winning art packaging: the bottle is encased in a seamless cylindrical mirror sleeve and accompanied by an original anamorphic lithographic poster designed by celebrated Hungarian artist István Orosz. When the mirrored bottle is placed directly in the center of the seemingly abstract poster artwork, the anamorphic optical reflection instantly reveals the face of Bacchus (Dionysus), the ancient god of wine. Inside the bottle, the wine delivers an explosive, full-throttle expression of Barossa royalty, opening with aromas of crème de cassis, blackberry liqueur, dark cocoa, smoked meats, and espresso, leading into an unctuous, velvety palate framed by towering yet supple tannins and an endlessly opulent finish.
